Tulbagh has always been one of our favorite little towns to visit. Nestled in a beautiful valley and surrounded by incredible mountain views, Tulbagh offers an escape filled with rich history, fantastic architecture, first class accommodation, delectable dining, superior art and exciting activities.
As it has been said the valley of mountains, is the only place where one can find peace of mind. So we yet again visited Tulbagh at the end of last year and to experience the new addition to this breathtaking valley.
Springsteen Cabins officially opened its doors to welcome guests at the start of December 2021.
Nestled in the heart of the Tulbagh valley, their eco-friendly self catering cabins were “built smartly & ecologically, preserving the planet while offering comfort, style and endless beauty with its contemporary and minimalist design*”
Located approximately 110km, a 90min drive from Cape Town, the cabins are situated on the beautiful Oudekloof Farm just outside Tulbagh – famous for their tractor rides.
The cabins are ideally located offering incredibly beautiful and breathtaking panoramic views of the valley.
On offer for the visitors two cabins: Glory Days and Radio Nowhere – both names inspired by the music of the legendary Bruce Springsteen (We do hope he’ll come and visit one day :))
GLORY DAYS CABIN LOCATION
“Glory days well they’ll pass you by
Glory days in the wink of a young girl’s eye
Glory days, glory days”
Bruce Springsteen
Our cabin – Glory Days is located on the lower slope of the mountain, with views of the town of Tulbagh in the distance. The sound of the river running alongside our cabin made it feel so peaceful and just perfect! Pure Bliss!
CABIN INTERIOR
The self-catering cabin itself despite, its limited space, (It is after all a container cabin) offers everything that you might possibly need during your stay. The kitchen was very well equipped with cutlery, crockery and basic pantry items such as plunger coffee, tea & sugar. It also contains a small fridge, freezer and gas hob.
The Bedroom is very minimalistic with a super comfy bed, fresh linen and towels.
The Bathroom is fitted with a basin, shower and WC. Amenities and towels are provided.
Overall the cabin is tastefully and thoughtfully decorated.
Waking up to the views of the valley, chirping birds and surrounded by nature is all a soul needs to unwind. “I felt my lungs inflate with the onrush of scenery—air, mountains, trees, people. I thought, “This is what it is to be happy.”
OUTDOOR DECK
The cabin sliding doors opens to a large deck where (as we assume you will too) we spend most of our time.
It is THE SPOT to be – as it was designed as the designated place for everyone to hang out and entertain whilst offering all the creature comforts with a spectacular view to boot.
The deck is also fitted with a table and 4 chairs overlooking the vineyards for those long lazy coffee mornings and candlelit dinners with a view.
Here you will also find a gas braai, outdoor shower, comfortable lounge area to soak in the mesmerizing landscape and of course a wood-fired hot tub.
The views are incredible – watching sunset from the hot tub on a summer’s day or just chilling on the deck enjoying the views is an uplifting experience that brings joy and relaxes the senses. Something we all need these days, right?
Slow living at its best! Bring a good book and catch up on some reading – ideal place to do so and spend time being.
As Bruce S says: “It’s not the time in your life, it’s the life in your time.“
