In past times, Cape Town had a few elite burger places for foodies to enjoy. In recent years, though, more burger places have popped up around the Mother City, winning burger lovers over with their diverse offerings (including some vegan- and vegetarian-friendly options!), tasty menus and yes, you guessed it: mouth-watering burgers.
Whether you’re a cheeseburger lover or someone who prefers vegetarian-friendly burgers, in this post, we share some of our go-to burger places in Cape Town:
Jerry’s Burger Bar (various locations)
Jerry’s Burger Bar is a burger franchise now operating with several locations (Willowbridge, Blouberg, Obz and Heritage Square) in the Mother City.
Above all else, they are a burger joint where people come together to enjoy good burgers, tequila, whiskey and craft beers.
They have a tasty selection of burgers, including their Jack D Burger (made using sticky, delicious Jack Daniels basting), Colonel Bernie Sanders chicken burger (strongly recommend it) and even the Heart Attack burger, which is a patty topped with crushed cheese bombs and chipotle mayo.
They truly offer a beef, steak or chicken burger for everyone to enjoy and they are always experimenting and bringing new burgers to the menus.
Burgers aside, Jerry’s also has a varied menu of fresh salads, bombs and snacks (including corn dogs and crumbed mushrooms), ribs and wings, drinks and of course, decadent desserts.

The NOB (Tyger Falls, Bellville)
In Cape Town’s Northern Suburbs, The NOB has earned itself a legendary status among burger lovers but if you aren’t familiar with this burger restaurant, let’s break it down for you.
First of all, The NOB stands for No Ordinary Burger – and no name could be more fitting.
If you have never ordered a NOB burger, just know that you won’t need a drink or fries to fill you because the burgers are about as big as a dinner plate – and that’s no exaggeration!
The NOB started as a food truck that finally turned into a small but popular restaurant at Tyger Falls. From here, you order a selection of their ginormous burgers – including their sinfully good, spicy Chilli Cheese Burger – as well as able to enjoy build-your-own nachos, side fries and beverages too.
Become a NOB’star and try their excellent burgers!

Conscious Carnivores (Makers Landing, V&A Waterfront)
Situated at the unique Makers Landing, one of the V&A Waterfront’s newest foodie destinations – Conscious Carnivores offers a delicious range of burgers and other tasty foods.
Everything on their menu – from their delicious urgers to their mocktails and steaks – is carefully sourced and curated to food- and drink-perfection, ensuring the highest quality goods and it shows.
Some of the best burgers available here include The OG (200 g burger grilled over hot coals), with a choice of either Grass-fed or Wagyu. Orthe American Cheese, Chicken Prego Burger and Shroom Burger, which is suitable for vegetarians.

Frankie’s Burgers (Shortmarket Street, Cape Town CBD)
Frankie’s Burgers is made by Frankie Fenner – Cape Town’s very own ethical meat merchants – and their store is situated in Shortmarket Street.
However, every Friday, you can also find them at Frankie Fenner’s Meat Merchants (FFMM) in Woodstock and sometimes other Mother City locations, like OZCF Market. So keep an eye on their socials for updates!
Their gourmet burgers are innovative works of food art and they have new burger offerings all the time – everything from The Frankie’s Burger to Xmas Gammon Burgers and even seasonal Cherry Jam Burgers.
If you can’t enjoy their FFMM Friday burgers in Woodstock (these are limited and work on a first come, first serve basis), why not pre-order your own DIY burger box to cook at home?
